I wanted to show another take on colossus. He's supposed to be a sweet giant colossus who just needs love (just like everyone does). But people is afraid of him. His body is divided in two: green nature with waterfalls and trees, and the darker side with the volcano. He's staring at the castle with curiosity but also with sorrow, since people will always run away from him and try to kill him for being what it is. Deep thoughts on this one

Painted in about 35 hours in Photoshop CS4. Huge canvas as always (around 6500x10000px at 300dpi). Textures used from www.cgtextures.com and sxc.hu.

My word, this picture is BEAUTIFUL!

The oil paintings colours used to create the orange-pink sunlight shining over the landscape and the mist effect make this picture GORGEOUS! And the SCALE of that colossus, comparative to that fortress which looks like a small city, and the surrounding mountains... Assuming the colossus can't communicate, I can't say I blame every human for wanting to immediately relocate someway in the other direction once they see this big thing lumbering towards them! This thing must seem like one of the most powerful and terrifying forces of nature that could ever come mankind's way!

That having been said, that face you gave the colossus (vaguely reminds me of something I saw on a Nickelodeon show called 'The Troop' once) with the minimal expressiveness and the eyes makes it look like it could be gentle and non-threatening (in the context of the description), or just as unfeeling and devoid of hate or love as any other force of nature (pre-description context). And holy hell, the way that volcano atop the colossus' back looks so much like Mount Doom straight out of Peter Jackson's films, yet it's only a meagre fraction of the colossus' total body mass, is SO effective at further impressing on us how gigantic this magnificent, terrifying creature is!!!
