Someone sent me a note on DA saying Markyourspot is selling art stuff without permission and at a huge price.

They're selling some of my stuff without my permission. www.markyourspot.com/social_ca… and
www.markyourspot.com/social_ca…

I am trying to spread the word about this massive theft case just as someone did with www.art4love.com. Fortunately that site has already been shut down. So I hope something similar can be done with markyourspot.

Please please check to see if anything of yours has been taken, and file a DMCA with the site’s host.

I'm not the only one on DA which has been stolen. In fact, lots of artists have been affected by this.

Please fav this article so that it can spread fast!

First of all, I must say how sorry I am that you are suffering like this. I had no idea until I read someone's art theft protection journal, and this story was on the sidelines.
Its a terrible thing, and now I too am terrified that he will steal my work as I paint on canvas, which cannot be watermarked, as I cannot scan it into photoshop and put one there.

I just wanted you to know that I started a journal, so that I could warn what few watchers I have. And I honestly think that everyone and their watchers write a journal about this man, more and more people will become aware of him and be on guard.

I bet it is a scam in all respects. Highly doubt they are getting anything sold anyway but even if they received payment I don't think they ship. They're just using the thumbnails most likely to get people to pay for prints that are never sent and then they switch the domain and site goes *poof*. I wouldn't be too worried.

Iīve realized that not only those websites have stolen work.

A friend found a "study" that traces and sells DA works mainly for publicity but donīt give credits to the real artists. They are starting with this, please donīt let them continue.
An image worths more than 1000 words. Check this:
This explains how do they do it, just flipping the images! [link]
The study who is responsible: [link]
The image in the facebook page: [link]
The promotional video of the study, pay attention to the minute 2:12 [link]
The original image [link] as you can see, none of the artists work in such "studio"

Those are just 2 examples but I dunno if more are being stolen.

Uhm. I was reflecting on a thing.
He made a lot of money of stolen art (at least, we can be quite confident on that). It means people like those art and pay a lot of that, more than for DA prints i'd say. So, why don't open a site of this kind with our drawings and sell them directly, when possible, with a nice description like "1.000.000 $ for common people but 999.999.999 for you!"

Just kidding...or something like that. ^_^

Uhm, i don't think we could actually know it, even if, jokes apart, i don't think many people trusted.

There's also another point. Not of our concern, but quite important:
he sold the artworks as oil on canvas. But they were mostly digital artworks. So, unless you are totally ignorant of art, you may easily say if it's a print or a real painting (i mean, having it in your hands).
So, the potential buyers of these "paintings" will have noticed that they bought for hundred of $ a print, sold as a real paiting... :| it's possibile no one of them noticed that? this man should have a veeeery long list of complaints from people who bought...thinking it was it's art! :|

"Mr. Liberman [...] traveled to the various clubs designing, producing and finally creating unique and spectacular performance and environmental works of art"

Was that before, or after he stole them from deviantART artists? I wonder if the pieces of art at Fulcrum Gallery were also "inspired" from other artists. I just don't get him... He's a CEO, not that he needs the money. And if he wants to sell other people's works of art why not invest in helping them? Is it really just about the money and fame? He disgusts me at this moment.

Luckily, none of my deviations were stolen but I am supporting this for two major reasons: 1. I love dA and the artists and their works and what he did was unfair, illegal and imho, unjustified. And 2. I am a person who hates injustice and I am willing to whatever it takes, so I am all with you guys!

As awesome as it is that we're compiling massive piles of evidence against this thieving fuckface, it is all entirely online. Not that there's anything BAD about that, but it looks like someone got screenshots of online articles about Chad Love Lieberman before sites started pulling them to save face for featuring him.

One of these articles actually NAMED businesses that featured his artwork (Not sure how true this info is considering the person in question seems to be a pathological liar). You know what would be grand? If anyone with some spare time called up/walked in to any of these businesses and asked if the place has any Chad Love art. And if any of these businesses allow it, take a picture of it and share it with the art community to see if it's one of the many stolen pieces. If it is, it's ACTUAL PHYSICAL EVIDENCE of a profit made by Chad Love Lieberman using stolen artwork.

Here's the page with screenshots of articles: [link]

Here's the screenshot listing the businesses: [link]

For easier reviewing since the page is one giant paragraph:
East Coast nightclubs - The Sound Factory, Life, Limelight, Tunnel, Kit Kat Club, Envy, Tobac, Verago, Exit, Saci, Cocktails (apparently he was the "resident artist" for these places and created event-specific art. Not sure if the art was later disposed of or if it's kept.)
Citi Habitat Real Estate (specifically, as a real estate agent for this company, he would hang "Chad Love originals" in clients' new apartments, so there's potentially a shitload of stolen paintings out there, all connected to this real estate company. I wonder if it's something they'd like to know about *COUGH*)

I'd uh, look up phone numbers and addresses for you all, but that might be construed as encouraging and inciting harassment, so I hope the list of names will suffice. ^^;

Another good use is if someone would be willing to make a drop-box? Then anyone could see added information as soon as someone adds to the share folder (shows up as a notification from your taskbar) and can be opened from the drop-box itself (you don't have to save it to your computer or any thing, it uses your resources to open and view files without the use of temporaries or hard drive space).

Also thanks to everyone's participation in the Colbert Nation. We're at 41 posts and over 7,500 views.

Ah this is one of the reasons that I never posted any of my non-published comic book work on any website just in case something like this occured. Most of what I upload is fan art or something I've entered into a contest. There are a couple of things i may have to be werry of, but all in all my more important works for the most part are safe since I completely refuse to post them until I have the ability to finish & legally grab the rights to them all.

Yes, but then how do you get people asking for commission or being published in some magazine?? To me it's really useful to get job offers. I'm getting e-mails everyday about that and it's thanks to DA. :(

Well I warned all of my friends on facebook about this & one guy suggested that I make sure my pictures are water marked & I thought hey that's pretty useful. But then I'm not entirely sure if the thief has found a way to by pass this or not.

But as for the job offers have you considered entering into several contest just to put your stuff out there. After I'd won 3rd place in one contest the person in charge offered me a job designing his next book cover. Also you'd be surprised how much praise one can recieve on Facebook for their work.

I'm just saying don't just rely on one place all that much & keep your eyes peeled in case something else comes along. But that's just my opinon anyway. :)

thank you! :)

I think Chad also passed watermarks as far as I know.

Yes, you're right. I have my work spread on different places too, but where I get more job offers is here. I have it on Facebook too and I'm ok with the job I have so far and the different commissions I'm taking too. I guess digital art and internet will always have this kind of thing with thieves :(

Thanks anyway!! ^^

Someone has also started a suggestion/information on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show thread [link] I'll be posting information (since the first post is a little out of date). Bill O'Reilly's (god he's so right winged though.. and scary) is also a pretty good candidate that listens to "common folk" problems (although this is a little larger than that >_>). Keep it up deviants.

It might be him... but now there are a few cases where 'anonymous' fans are coming forward to defend him. Supposedly they have watched him paint the art, so he must be legit.

What? :frustrated:

Either somebody is really dumb, or he is an even bigger jerk for posing as a fan of himself.

On a better note, there are now multiple sources claiming that a class-action lawsuit is in effect. I just hope he doesn't try to leave the country!
